The Gorse is a voyage into the yellow fragrance of May
In the winds of the earth and of the sea that move far and beyond.
From the thick in the bush to the sandy shores.
You are all and you are one, courageous Gorse, bountiful blooms on a solitary bush, humble and generous.
You love the sun, the hard clay earth, the scorcing heat of the summer, the precipitous banks.
Little is required is to flourish.
Intricate yet robust you sink your roots deep into the ground while your fine, luxuriant stems reach for the sky ever so elegantly.
Like butterflies your golden flowers spread their wings, your pods are fruit that the summer reveals to next generation, like tiny propellors, it’s as if your seeds are made to fly.
From your pollen the bees make honey, fabric from your stems, and waxes, ointments, populations draw essential oils from your opulent fruits , honour from your fires, in ancient times, the pagan divinities.
Prosperous and tenacious are you, Gorse, plural feminine, multiple and singular.
A voyage is this in matter and in form, in the light and in the colour, in the free expression of nature shaped by creation
into the free suggestions of nature curved into creation.
Gorse is plastic transformation, chromatic evolution, simplicity both spontaneous and layered.
